Eye perception
The dynamic range is the ratio between the brightest and darkest parts of the scene.
In imaging and photography, the dynamic range represents the ratio of two luminance values, with the luminance expressed in candelas per square mete (cd/m2).
The human vision luminance’s range is wide. For example the luminance of starlight is around 10-3 cd/m2, of a sunlit scene is around 105 cd/m2. The luminance of the sun itself is approximately 109 cd/m2. The human eye can capture a dynamic range of approximately 105 simultaneously.
An easy and precise way of representing such different values, it is to use a logarithmic scale to represent the luminance.
A scene showing the interior of a room with a sunlit view outside the window, for instance, has a dynamic range of approximately 105.
An HDR (High Dynamic Range) image stores pixel values that contain the whole tonal range of real-world scenes. Therefore, an HDR image is encoded in a format that allows the largest range of values, e.g. floating-point values.

How do you normaly capture HDR images?
Most digital cameras are only able to capture a limited dynamic range and the exposure setting determines which part of the total dynamic range is captured. This is why HDR images are commonly created from photos of the same scene taken under different exposure levels.
Why SIM2 HDR47 monitor?
However, please remember that the standard monitors’ contrast ratio is low, much lower than the dynamic range of most scenes and because of this you are used not to see an HDR picture as it is supposed to. This means that your monitor is unable to display the entire range of tonal values available in an HDR image created from multiple exposures. Only a monitor with a much improved contrast ratio (full/on full/off infinitive) like our HDR47, is able to correctly reproduce your HDR images.
Custom application
Digital Signage:
Digital Dynamic Signage specialists could greatly benefit from the high dynamics of the SIM2 HDR monitors, as the SIM2 display can effectively expand the dynamics of visual contents ensuring high brightness and contrast at the same time in all environmental conditions.
